About Me

Erich Squire- is a self-employed business consultant, a job he has held since 2017. In this role, Squire uses his extensive training and experience in finance to provide "various strategic and analytic services, ranging from quantitative to qualitative" to companies of all sizes. He uses his deep background in financial analysis, forecasting, modeling, business plan creation/review, data analysis, financial modeling, change management, and actuarial analysis to assist clients in growing their businesses and overcoming financial and HR challenges.

Professional Experience

Squire has spent his entire career in finance, including nine years at Century Aluminum in the greater Chicago area, where he worked his way up the corporate ladder, starting out as a Human Resources specialist, to become the company's Senior Vice President of Finance. In this role as the company's most senior financial officer, Squire oversaw the Century's reporting, investor relations, FP&A, corporate development, risk management, shared services, and credit.

Prior to joining the workforce at Century Aluminum, Squire worked as an actuarial manager at PwC in the greater Chicago area. Squire's job responsibilities at PwC included working in the company's HR consulting practice, focusing on combining HR strategy and financial rigor to provide clients with tailored, value-added services related to its total rewards programs. His work there was rewarded with increasing roles from the individual contributor of analytics growing into project management to client relationship management and staff development.

Before allowing them to expire when he shifted career paths to become a business consultant, Squire held an Enrolled Actuary credential from the Internal Revenue Service and a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) credential from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.

Education

Squire is a 1993 graduate of Portage (Indiana) High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Indiana University-Northwest in Gary, Indiana, and an MBA from the University of Louisville. While at the University of Louisville, Squire was involved in the early stage planning for the startup Cuddle Clones, a company that makes custom stuffed toys and other merchandise in the likeness of a customer's pet dog or cat. Squire still serves as the company's Director of Operations and has helped to guide the company from its inception to annual sales of more than $300,000. The company has also been named to "Louisville Business" magazine's Fast 500 list several times.

During his MBA program, Squire was also involved in the Capstone Project, where he led a team, at the request of Brown-Forman (makers of Jack Daniels, Canadian Mist, Finlandia, and other popular liquor brands), to analyze consumer trends across ready-to-drink alcohol products globally. Squire and his team used existing sales data along with custom-designed cultural research and analysis to provide a unique and actionable view of the market.

Squire Outside of Work

A lifelong resident of Indiana, Squire currently makes his home in Portage, Indiana with his two young children. When he's not working, he enjoys listening to music, playing in a local band, playing pool with his friends, and active sports like skiing, swimming, and soccer.

Erich is passionate about giving back to his community. He served for three years as a volunteer firefighter in Ogden Dunes after the department saved his home from destruction in a house fire. For this job, he completed Firefighting training modules one and two and EMT training one. Even though he has moved out of the Ogden Dunes area, he continues to support the department financially. Squire has also served as a board member for the Louisville Jazz Society, where his responsibilities included helping to recruit new jazz talent to the Louisville area.
